As we all know, Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I just want to share with you guys what I think of it.
Honestly, Valentine’s Day as we know it, is a day for lovers and couples to get together and suddenly remember their love and go all lovey-dovey only on this particular day in the whole year. However, I do not think that this day should be solely meant for this group of lovestruck people in the world.
I think that Valentine’s Day is meant to be a day whereby people remember to show their appreciation to all their loved ones. It is a day whereby we remember our friends and loved ones and how important they are to us. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we should conveniently forget about them on the rest of the days of the year. Showing our love to our friends and family on the other days of the year is to prove to our loved ones that we don’t forget about them even when it’s not Valentine’s Day. Imagine if we only showed appreciation to our loved ones on that 14th February every year and then ignore them for the rest of the year.
Valentine’s Day is now so commercialised that a few years ago, it even spawned out a movie titled – guess what, Valentine’s Day. And that movie was totally focused on lovers and couples and in my honest opinion, the movie sucked despite the star-studded cast because the movie plot was so horrible. It was totally predictable with zero climax. Sorry to be so blunt but I review and grade movies I watch according to their story plots so yeah, this movie sucked. Seriously. Do not watch this on this coming Valentine’s Day, whether you are single or not. Story sucks.
I don’t know why some people are so set on Valentine’s Day that they just get so miserable because they don’t have a date on that day. Honestly, if you have a date, then you’ll have a date on that commercialised day. If you don’t then there isn’t a need to whine about it because this year would just be the same as the last. I say that having no expectations is the best thing on this particular day.
Let’s say you have expectations on that day. What happens if the other person doesn’t live up to your expectations? You’ll be so crushed and you’ll feel even worse when you watch couples everywhere doing their thing. And you’ll find yourself saying this to yourself:
Now you don’t want to end up looking pathetic and pitiful like that do you? No one likes to be pitied.
So. This Valentine’s Day, enjoy your day with ALL your loved ones (not just your partner) and you’ll be much happier ^^
I’m pretty sure that was St. Valentine’s original intentions for everyone on that day.
Have a Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
